Inspiration sometimes comes from unlikely sources and places! Lloyd Khan has become one of these, with his irrepressible passion for buildings and building and his gentle goodwill towards those with whom he shares life. I've started to photograph buildings more myself and doors as well, as I'm fascinated by them and have matured enough to not apologize for it. I was asked what are you doing the other day as I photographed a door and replied "photographing this door, isn't it wonderful" as if the person was a young child. They were then even less impressed.

This whole blogging thing is new to me but one i check regularly and get a real kick out of reading and viewing is Lloyd Khan's. A man who's fascinated by people creating their own dwellings and the creative "homes" that result. On the very same day my 12 year son asked why flats (appartments) are all built square this beautiful creation from Germany appeared on Lloyd's blog..

Family get-togethers !! Lots of fun but mixed emotions around the challenges and difficulties that some of us face. Port Macquarie is such a physically beautiful enviroment and I'm sure as a kid I didn't appreciate it all that much, it was... well it just was.. Paul at the cafe said today " yeah, your home town is always a hole you need to escape until you get out and realise it wasn't that bad after all" ahhh.. cafe wisdom.

Call me crazy, call me a fool, but in these uncertain times of economic uncertainty i've gone out today (well ebay !) and bought a boat !! A hobie 16 to be precise for the grand sum of 1150$ Ha Ha !! My first boat ! Well, not counting the canoe. I feel like a kid at Christmas, with only a tinge of guilt that the money could have gone elsewhere, including to a few pressing debts. But Se La Vie, its done and i feel fantastic and can't wait to get out on the water!! Reading Lloyd's BLOG and his continuing adventures through South and Central America are a great source of inspiration. Despite some looming chaos and catharsis in other parts of my life, a little hobie 16 has brought an enormous amount of JOY and FUN!! and i haven't even picked her up yet !!

Today I wrote along the lines " I dream of building a home ..." and had a little rave and then attached a pic of the view from the block i've been keeping an eye on. It took so long for the pic to load that i quit thinking i could do it later. In the afternoon i learnt that the block has sold. It was interesting to observe how disappointed i was ! Anyway in the interest of a continued vision of the kind of place i want to manifest into my life, here's the pic. A lovely place to connect love and live...

Reading Natalie Goldberg's "Writing Down The Bones" and loving it !
About writing of course, but in a Zen context of doing "practice". Its funny
and simple, insightful and beautifully paradoxical. I'm finding it quite
inspiring and have been doing a little "practice" as suggested.
Also, reading "The Book Thief" is such a pleasure at the moment. Its
such a beautifully told story. Now its time to take the afternoon off and
go surfing !!

Caught up with the lovely Ruth for a coffee and a chin wag. Ruth is a rogue,
a scholar, a raconteur and dilettante extrordinaire. One of those wonderous persons whom after
even just a few minutes together there's inevitably laughter and good feelings all round. Highly intelligent without making anyone feel dumb! The ability to talk the leg off an iron pot combined with the skill and generosity to listen. What a great blessing to have such friends!

Part of my job is analysing people's spinal health, and i love it ! But i want to hear their story too. i want to know what floats their boat, what turns them on, what they'd do if they won $40 mil!! i don't care if its needlework or fishing, ballroom or finger painting, if someone is passionate about something i get excited too. Someone who recently retired and is visiting their son who lives out here now (Newcastle NSW Australia) told me today that they're going fishing together tomorrow. He spoke with excitement and joy! His eyes lit up and he told me he's been looking forward to this day all his life! His dream is to catch a 1000 pound Black Marlin. He son suggested that he get his heart checked before they go and the father replied that if he died catching that fish to just roll him over the edge as he'd died doing something he really loved! Now thats cool.
